September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Cancer is the second leading cause of death for children, behind accidents. However, according to the American Cancer Society, more that 80 percent of children diagnosed will survive five years or longer because of medical advancements.

There are many ways you can help children, like our buddy, Alex Lopez. For example, you can:

– Help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by participating in the Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer.
– Shave your head and raise money for St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
– Buy a bracelet for Connor’s Cure, which supports cancer research at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
– Donate to an individual child’s treatment. If you personally do not know anyone, do a search for “cancer” on a website like

On-Highway_Diesel_Fuel_Prices (7)Diesel fuel average prices jumped from a summer low of of $2.310 per gallon on Aug. 15 back up to $2.409 per gallon just in time for the Labor Day weekend last week. And, as the weekend ended, the prices barely lowered to $2.407 per gallon, according to the Energy Information Administration.

The average price per gallon is still almost 13 cents lower than prices were a year ago this week.
